Magnetic cordless lamp: gadget or real lamp?

A cordless, magnetic, USB-rechargeable lamp – on paper, it might seem more like a cool gadget than a real everyday object. We’ll answer frankly the questions we get asked most often.

Is it powerful enough for real use?

With 430 lumens, the light source of our lamps is in the ideal range for domestic use: sufficient for comfortable reading in a bedroom, working at a desk, or illuminating a reading nook – without being blinding. This is comparable to a good quality conventional LED bulb, with the difference that you can adjust the intensity to 3 levels depending on the time of day.

A gadget, or a real lamp?

The difference between a gadget and a useful object is simple: do you keep using it after the first week? The cordless format is not a marketing argument for us – it's what allows you to move the light wherever you need it, without being limited by the position of an outlet. Placed on a desk during the day, on a bedside table in the evening: it is precisely because it is cordless that it becomes more practical than a conventional lamp, not less.

Is it too fragile to last?

The beech wood used is solid and FSC-certified – a material renowned for its strength, not its fragility. The clip mechanism is patented, precisely because it was designed to hold a structure stably, without play or weakness over time. And on the electronics side, the LED itself has an advertised lifespan of 50,000 hours – more than enough to accompany your lamp for years of daily use.

Do you have to recharge it too often?

This is the most common fear with a cordless object – and the reality is more comfortable than one might imagine. As a bedside lamp (1 to 2 hours per evening), count on about 2 weeks before needing to recharge. As a desk lamp, with longer daily use, count on about 1 week. In both cases, a full USB charge takes only 3 to 4 hours – the time of a meal.

Magnetic and adjustable: a real advantage, or just another gadget?

The light source attaches and moves by hand across the entire structure, and can be directed downwards for direct lighting (reading, work), or turned towards the wall or ceiling for softer, indirect light. This is a feature that concretely changes daily use, not just a technical argument on a product sheet.

So, is it really a lamp?

Yes – and it is even a more flexible lamp than a conventional model in several respects: it moves without outlet constraints, it can be oriented according to the need of the moment, and it has been designed to last. The creative and modular format does not detract from its primary function: to illuminate, correctly, where you need it.
